Waybourne Winery is located at Waurn Ponds, gateway to the Surf Coast wine district. Planting began in 1978 and has continued until recently with Shiraz being added to the other established varieties of Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet, Merlot, Trebbiano and Muscat. In recent years, the vines have been heavily pruned to ensure intense flavours. Hand-picking continues to be an important part of the quality-driven processes that have been put in place in both the vineyard and winery. The first Pinot Gris in the region was produced in the Waybourne Winery. The range of wines available for tasting has grown with the addition of two sparkling wines, a white and a red. Sample the wines in the relaxing ambience of the tasting room overlooking the vineyard and Barrabool hills.
